For Halloween this year, we had the pleasure of collaborating with local artist and body painter, Paul Roustan, at his annual Bash. The passion for his craft was evident, and was clearly reciprocated by guests who came from far and wide to experience his mystical oddities in action. A painted beauty danced around the crowd on roller skates as another sauntered through the gallery with fan in hand. With icey blue eyes, the models remained in character throughout the duration of the evening. The painted women displayed an undeniable confidence as they strutted, wearing nothing but their glistening painted skin, which is Roustan’s specialty. The vibe of the party was curated by Thes One of People Under The Stairs. Guests were dancing for hours to the sounds of Michael Jackson’s Thriller and groovy hip-hop and R&B tunes. They seemed to particularly enjoy the bubbling cauldron of punch and the painting of a giant hand and eyeball painted by Roustan himself. The scene was completed with an acrobat in the corner, dressed as a doll. Her legs hung over her head as she propped herself up with her elbows, holding a stone cold countenance throughout the night.
Our team enjoyed capturing the night by taking photos and video of the party-goers and their funky attire. Here at Studio 637, we strive to bring the community together with our projects and support local artists as much as we can. Paul Roustan serves as a refreshing element to our beach town community of Hermosa Beach. It was clear that the community values him as well for what he brings to the table. We’re not sure how he can top this year’s bash, but we have no doubt that he will exceed our expectations next year. Check out Roustan’s website to take a look at his gallery of painted bodies, or visit his instagram page for a video recap of the bash.
